Imagine finishing work and heading straight out to the garden. That is the idea behind this project in Warwickshire, where Karl from our team took a look around a 3 × 3m pergola built over a hot tub.
The pergola brings together four features that make this corner of the garden somewhere to properly unwind:
- A hot tub, sheltered under the pergola
- A louvred roof overhead
- Blinds around the sides
- LED lighting for the evenings
Why a louvred pergola suits a hot tub
A hot tub gets used all year round, so the space around it needs to cope with British weather. A louvred roof lets you choose how much cover you want: open the louvres to let in sunlight and fresh air, or close them when it starts to rain so you can stay in the water and keep dry.
Blinds add another layer of control. Lower them for shelter from wind or low sun, or for a bit more privacy from neighbouring gardens, then raise them again when you want the open-air feel back.
LED lighting means the space keeps working long after sunset. Soft lighting overhead makes the hot tub easier and safer to get in and out of in the dark, and it turns a garden corner into somewhere you actually want to spend your evenings.
A 3 × 3m footprint shows that you do not need a huge garden to create a proper outdoor retreat. A compact pergola can frame a hot tub neatly and give it a defined, sheltered space of its own.
